Yes to Carrots Berry Lip Butter

I got this as a generous extra on MUA when I did a swap a while ago! Thank you girl! :)

So here it is... 4.25g (FYI: On my nails is Essie's Lilacism):

As you can tell I have used it!
Smell: A bit overwheming for me... I found it a bit strong because I have a sensitive nose!
Moisturising? Yes and it was not sticky or uncomfortable.
I think if the smell was a bit more subtle I would like it more.
I passed this to my mother because of the smell, otherwise I cannot find any faults to this:
- no allergic reaction (I'm allergic to Chapstick!)
- moisturising
- hygenic packaging
- drugstore brand so it is inexpensive - in the US anyway, I cannot find it here in Australia for some reason? I even looked in Priceline... they have other things from Yes To Carrots but not lipbalms!
Have you tried this? Have you tried the other flavours?
What did you think of them?

Perhaps the best mascara - Majolica Majorca Lash Enamel Glamour Neo BK999 (Black) Mascara

Here it is!

Love love.... definately my fave mascara of the mo (ment!)

Pics first, opinions later! :)
So here is the mascara (FYI: I am wearing Essie's Lilacism):

Here you can see that it is BK999 (black) and it is 7.5g:

The brush:

The cap detailing:

Overall:
Awesome!
It's waterproof, very black and does not flake. So 3 ticks - everything I look for in a mascara. BUT wait there's more! It appears to add a bit of length and volume - not much though, but still... I have short stubby asian eyelashes so maybe it is just me!
Where can I buy it?
Japan and asian countries! I purchased mine from Sasa, but they haven't had any stock since or else I would have purchased another one of these!
Sadly, not available in Australia... why why why? Shiseido is the mother brand behind Majolica Majorca and I have tried Shiseido's macaras but they were not waterproof on me (correct me if I am wrong but they do not have a waterproof formula?).

Would I repurchase?
Yes! But I don't use much makeup so mine dries up before I use it all because it clumps after 3 months because it dries up, but that is normal for a mascara.
Have you tried this mascafra before? What did you think of it? What is your fave mascara of the moment?

China Glaze Light As Air VS Essie Lilacism & Essie Merino Cool

I have been loving the Essie Lilacism so much that I decided to purchase the China Glaze Light as Air. I was thinking this would be a good dupe of the Essie Lilacism but... it is a little bit lighter. As you can see in the photos below:

Essie on the right, China Glaze on the left:

Below: China Glaze Light as Air on the left, and Essie Lilacism on the right:

On my toes I have Essie's Merino Cool - it is the bottle I am holding up... I was going to take photo of my feet but that is just weird! Haha... so here, you can see the swatch of the nail polish on the plastic nail thing:

Now, onto the China Glaze Light as Air...

Sorry again for the messy application... I'm such a noob at painting my nails! So just imagine that it is a bit neater... ^^

Issues I have had with this nail polish:
It cracked. I did some research and people say that it happens when you put too manjy coats... but 2 coats is average is it not? I have another theory...
I used Seche Vite as the top coat and it may be because it does not agree with the China Glaze's nail polish formula. The chemicals may just not like each other!
It cracked, chipped and showed signs of wear within 2-3 days.
I used 2 coats of Light as Air over one coat of OPI's natural nail base coat.
I'm going to try and use this nail polish another time with another top coat and see how it goes!
Have you had issues of anil polish cracking?
Have you tried China Glaze's Light as Air? Do you like it more than Essie's Lilacism?

REVIEW: Etude House Green Tea Nose Pack

Hi everyone!

It's almost Christmas! :) Happy Holidays!

This is a review on... the Etude House Green Tea Nose Pack. Here it is:
After use:

Smell: kind of like green tea! It wasn't the best smell, but it wasn't too bad.

Effectiveness: I'm not sure if you can see in the photo above, but it did pull out some blackheads. Not as effective as Biore Pore strips though. I have been using them for a while now... they can get a bit expensive though!

Where can I get this item? Etude House stores. In Australia I believe we have don't have a store here, but we have a reseller and the shop is called 'The Lovely House'. It is located in New South Wales.

Where did I get this item? I got it as an extra from a seller on eBay when I purchased some Etude House products from them. So look out for more posts on Etude House things!

Have you tried this Korean brand yet? Do you like it? What's the best Etude House product IYO?

REVIEW & NOTD: China Glaze - Swing Baby layered over Cheers to You (Holiday 2010 Collection)

Hi all!

So I got bored with my nails already! Just yesterday I had China Glaze's Cheers to You (pictured in the middle) on!

I decided to layer China Glaze's Swing Baby (last one pictured) on top!

From For the love of beauty! by Lara

From For the love of beauty! by Lara

The OPI Natural Nails Base Coat was used underneath (first one pictured above).

So.. here are the swatches!

From For the love of beauty! by Lara

From For the love of beauty! by Lara

I think the reason why I wasn't too fond of the silver of China Glaze's Cheers to You is because I think I am warm toned. It just doesn't flatter me! :(

Perhaps China Glaze's Swing Baby is mor cool toned because it is like a warm metallic/glittery browney (browny?) bronze!

What do you guys think? Which one do you like more? Swing Baby or Cheers to You?

REVIEW & NOTD: China Glaze - Cheers to You (Holiday 2010 Collection)

Hi everyone!

NOTD! :)

Freshly applied...

About the nail polish:
- This is from China Glaze's newest collection - The Holiday 2010 Collection
- It is a lovely silver - metallic but it looks like heaps of fine silver glitter bits together to make it look metallic (do I make any sense? -_-)
- It looks very minxy ^^

The first two photos/swatches of China Glaze's Cheers to You have only one coat (and a base: OPI Natural Nails Base Coat):

The following photos or swatches are of two coats (and a base):

Pros:
- Very pigmented
- fast drying
- not gloppy
Cons:
- the lid is easily scratched
Sorry for the messy application!
What do you think?
Good for the holiday season?

REVIEW & NOTD: Essie Lilacism (Spring 2010 Collection)

Hi all!
NOTD:
Essie's Lilacism!
A nice pastel kind of purple or lilac.

This was requested by a follower! :)

I used 1 base coat - OPI for natural nails

2 coats of colour - Essie Lilacism

1 top coat - Seche Vite (I think that's how you spell it?)

Sorry about the lighting in the photo - will update later!

PROS:
- I love to colour! :)
- glossy
- dried reasonably quickly
- no streaky finish

CONS:
-The consistency of the nail polish leaves a lot to be desired.. too liquidy - & applied thinly, it was still not opaque in 2 coats! So I used 3 coats!
- easily peeled off (but this MAY be because of either the base or top coat... hmmm)
- the applicator was too small IMO

Have you tried any Essie nail polishes before? What did you think?
What are your favourite shades?
Let me know!

DEBATE: How Long Does Make Up Last? Does it expire?

Does makeup expire? Yes!

Like most other things, for example food, drinks, nail polish, shampoo...

it DOES expire... contrary to a few people's opinons...

I don't know about you guys but here are my guidelines... what I usually go by!
I know many people keep theirs for less or more though!

When to throw out?
Signs you need to throw your makeup out:
- when there is a 'bad' smell
- when the makeup is all crumbled or when you touch it, it crumbles
- when it has hardened (and it was not like that before!)
- when you use it and you get itchy skin!

I roughly keep makeup for about this long for my items:

Liquid foundations: < 1 yr
Powder foundations/blushes/bronzers: < 2 yrs
Powder eyeshadows: < 2 yrs
Liquid/Mousse eyeshadows/blushes/bronzers: <1 yr
Lipsticks: < 2 yrs
Lipglosses: < 1 yr
Pencil Eyeliners: < 3 yrs
Liquid Eyeliners: < 1 yr
Eyeshadow primers/bases: < 1.5 yrs

Do you agree? Disagree? Comment below!

DEBATE: How Long Does Nail Polish Last?

So... the best resource for questions?

Google? I hear you say? YES...
But there's also Yahoo Answers!

So... let's see what they say to the question: How long does nail polish last?

1
1 yr
8 yrs
until the colour separates

2
until it goes chunky
until it dries up
2-3 yrs

Funny thing when I Googled? I cam across a website that said 1 MONTH! Can you believe that?
Can anyone use up a whole nail polish in 1 month? Well, unless you paint other people's nails... insane... I was going to get the link then my browser went funny. Lol.

Personally, as I have stated in my last post - I only have two at the moment.
I gave/sold/threw away most of my other polishes because:
1) I couldn't open them - as much as I tried... stuck... dead stuck!
2) They got gloopy & wouldn't apply properly
3) I didn't like the colour on me

And today as I was trying to use the nail art ones... I had 8... they wouldn't dry on my nails.. can someone tell me why?

Yea, so I'm not keeping them now.

In addition to my 2 coloured nail polishes I also have clear ones as well.

I think using your best judgement on nail polishes is the way to go - some brands might last longer than others - i know I had some cheap ones from overseas that dried up within a few months of opening. Whereas ones I bought here, I think a year? They were no more than AU$5 each, which is cheap for Australians! I can't believe USA-ers get them so much cheaper!! LUCKY!!!!

We pay like AU$20.00 for good brands here! HUMPH!! lol.
Essie & OPI fall into this category I believe... correct me if I am wrong anyone?

How many nail polishes do you have?

How long do you keep your nail polishes for?

REVIEW: Lancome Color Ideal Pressed Powder, Foundation & Concealer

Lancome Color Ideal Pressed Powder

Price: A bit on the expensive side, 2/5
Packaging: Beautiful, elegant & practical, 5/5
Product: A nice range of colours to suit a varity of skin shades. I personally found this product to be a bit drying, and it broke me out a bit.
Repurchase? No

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Liquid Foundation

Price: a bit exy, 2/5

Packaging: Love love! Elegant, glass bottle with pump! Hygenic! A plus!

Product: You get 30mL, it's oil-free & the shades are great - I got a perfect match with the 2nd lightest shade. However, it broke me out in one application. I returned it to the store.

Repurchase? No

Lancome EffacernesWaterproof Protective Undereye Concealer

Price: a bit exy, 2/5

Packaging: Great - you only squeeze out how much you need - no dipping your fingers into it! Hygenic!

Product: Like with the other Lancome products, this broke me out - nothing major though - just a few spots here and there. I tried this concealer several time in an attempt to get my skin to like it though - bit it just accentuated my dry areas on my face - not good! I do like how it says it is waterproof.

OVERAL VERDICT:
I have sensitive, acne-prone, combination skin - so dry in some areas and oily in others (my T-zone).
But if you have normal or oily skin these may work for you.
Also, if you d not have sensitive skin!

These three products are definately misses for me! :(

Have you tried Lancome products before? Have they worked for you?

REVIEW: Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer

Hi all!

I tried this product out a few weeks ago because I need a concealer. Was this a hit or miss?

For pics & swatches, I have a seperate post here of shade: Ivory Light 2-3.5

.

Texture: Smooth but weird...

Too dry for me though - I have combination skin - dry on the cheeks & oily on the forehead, nose & chin.

This makes my dry areas stand out - doesn't last long and looks fake on me.

Doesn't cover well for me because within hours it fades.

I purchased the lighest shade available, and it suited my skin tone. That is about the only positive thing about it. Also, the packaging is good too - I quite like it. :) But the product is not suitable for my skin (acne prone, combination & sensitive).

So...

This was... a MISS!

:(

So I will continue to use Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Double Face Perfector reviewed HERE. I have repurchased this serveral times, however. it doesn't seem to last long - and I don't wear makeup everyday either! I don't have much product left on the concealer end after 1 month of usage. So I am on the search for another concealer!

What do you think of Maybelline Dream Mousse concealer? Have you tried it? What did you think?

What is your favourite concealer of the moment?
